The Global War on Terror will not be won with weapons, but with diplomacy and influence facilitated through cultural understanding. This panel represents the Consortium for Strategic Communication at ASU whose mission has made significant advances in applying communication and narrative theories to real world problems in counter-terrorism using qualitative and quantitative approaches in three regions across the globe, including the Middle East, Southeast Asia and North Africa/Southern Europe.

Watch for additional public appearances in 2011, including a featured day-long narrative writing workshop to be held at the 7^th International Congress for Qualitative Inquiry (with Chris Poulos); and two anticipated panels, one on “Activist Impulses in Qualitative Inquiry” and another one on “Tenure Tales (Part II): Trials, Transgressions, and Triumphs.” (May 17-21, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
